The Brazilian Wax series, of which this is the third volume, has followed my gradual move away from the well-documented regions of compilations and reissues into deeper, less-charted territory. This mix, while containing many well-known classics, contains a number of lesser-known pieces that I've spent a long time tracking down. It starts off with some Jorge-Ben-penned samba soul classics, moves on into funk-infused samba and break-heavy Brazilian takes on US funk and disco classics, and finally winds up in the fertile Boogie land of Hyldon and Lincoln Olivetti. |
